I created some pretty awesome textured backgrounds with stencils recently and wanted to use them, so I created three tags! To create the backgrounds I used Colorburst and modeling paste over a stencil. You can see how here:
After I die cut the tags I added my stamped Rita Barakat images to create these:
I used alcohol markers for the skin and hair. Here is how you can use copic markers to create skin tones and hair!
For each tag I added a little glitter and glitter drops to finish them off!
These tags were created for a swap! I am super happy with how they turned out!
I am super excited to share with you two of the new Joy Clair releases! I created a Bible art piece with one and a card wit the other. I also made two ATC with them as well!
Instead of using the new Hope Stamp Set as a way to express hope, I used it as a way to show strength and take on a warrior attitude. I have Celiac Disease. For years I prayed that God would heal me even though I did not know what I had. Once I got the diagnosis and avoided gluten the symptoms pretty much disappeared. Though my body did grow weary my soul did not – hence the saying and verse!
For the ATC I portrayed a warrior and thought of all of my fellow sisters who struggle with cancer and other diseases.
I found the “We Can Do It” card set in Washington DC last simmer. I gessoed the base and went over it with a wet paint brush and wiped the face clean. Once it was dry I stamped my image and words.
Mermaid at Heart
This might be my favorite new release set! The tail is a perfect sassy flirt and the sayings coordinate beautifully. For the card, I picked up some specialty paper at my local craft store and embossed it. I simply stamped the sentiment on another sheet and layered it. For the tail, I embossed it in black and used watercolor markers to shade it in. I made it shiny with Glossy accents!
I mimicked the process on the ATC, just working on a smaller scale.
Make sure you check out the shop for all the new releases and hop and check out what the other designers did with different stamp sets!
This is an exciting week! Joy Clair has new stamps out and I got to play with them! Be prepared for lots of fun new cards, ATCs, Bible Art, and more over the next few weeks! In the meantime, the Joy Clair design team has gotten together for a fabulous hop! Each designer is featuring a different new stamp today and tomorrow. I got to play with the sloths! I could not stop with just one project and created two!
Before Coffee…Feeling Slothy
My 16 year old daughter is the inspiration behind this card. She proudly claims the Sloth title in our house — especially before her coffee. To create this card I tore Bazzil Swiss Dot Cardstock for the grass and used a white Gelato and cloud stencil on blue Bazzil paper. I stamped all the sloths and colored them in with color pencils. After I fussy cut them out I used pop dots to adhere all the images making sure I attached the two branches to create one long one with the sloths on it.
Hang In There
I have this new thing I am doing. I am starting an ATC collection of all the new stamp sets I get! It is fun to warm up with them on a small substrate. For this ATC I used Vinyl as the base and used my fingers to paint on it. Once the paint was dry I stamped the sentiment and pop dotted the image.

Back to Basics: How to Create A Card
To create this card I went back to the basics with embossing and layering. The floral pattern on the coffee cub is just perfect for spring! I wanted to showcase it and used color pencils to make it pop. To see how I created this card please check out my video:
My sweet little nephew has his third birthday coming up. I want to get him my favorite children’s book “Oh The Places You Will Go!” for his birthday. Joy Clair has a stamp set that matches perfectly and I knew I needed to create a card for him using it. To make it personal I added a few baby pictures I took of him.
The scan in cut trimmed out the images after I colored them in with copic markers. Here are two videos on how this card came together. The first is on how I created the paper.
The next video is how to create this card using the handmade paper created in the last video.
This is going to be a great gift because of how perfectly coordinated it is! I have a feeling the card and book are going to be treasured.
