Rad Cards!

Simon Hurley’s February 2020 release with Ranger is a lot of fun! Between the birds, dogs and nod to high school doodling I could not help but to create 25 samples and 5 videos. Then there is the ink! It is not only gorgeous and bright, but also blendable and easy to work with for a variety of techniques.

Bleach It

Don’t let the title fool you — no bleach is required. This technique can be used with just water. The results are awesome!

Here are the samples of this technique as promised in the video. The Bundle for this is here.

Tone on Tone

Super simple technique with stunning results.

The following samples I created as I was discovering this technique and playing with the new stamps. The bundle for these samples is here.

Pull Apart Backgrounds

Timber is a fun new background stamp in which you get to decide how many trees you want to create. You can have a forest or a single tree. Color them different or all the same. The possibilities for this stamp is endless! It pairs beautifully with the new bird set. The bundle for these samples is here.

Multi-Purpose Ink

Like I stated previously the new ink is full of possibilities.

Here are the sample cards I created while discovering all the amazing uses for this ink! The bundle used to create these samples can be found here.

Stencil Craze

I have to confess that when I saw the scene building stencil I was a little scared, but it ended up being my favorite! I also created my favorite card with it.

Here is my very favorite card:

Here are a few more samples created with the new stencils:

Your Turn!

Now that you have seen all the new Simon Hurley line, which one is your favorite? Tell me in the comments! I am torn between the Birds, Dogs and the scene builder stencil. What’s yours?

1 Stencil 5 Different Ways!

Lately, I have been trying to get as much use out of my supplies as possible! I am embarrassed to admit this, but the first time I saw a stencil I did not know what to do with it. Was I suppose to trace it? Dab paint through it? After receiving one in a kit over two decades ago I just tossed it aside and moved on with my crafty life. Three years ago I became fascinated with them. Stencils look cool, but I was still intimidated by them. I started to buy them. Finally, I set out to learn how to use them!

Video Tutorial

The May 2019 Stamp of the Month from Close to My Heart is darling! It pairs well with a Prima stencil I had. I set out to create some cards using it as the background. Here is a video I created on five different ways a stencil can be used:

Up Close Pictures

The set was suppose to be pinks and grays. However, I forgot that as I colored in the images. Thankfully, they turned out lovely. Cards sets that flow and not perfectly matched are my style!

Foiled Background
Tinted Modeling Paste
Paint

The next time you play in your craft room with stamps, challenge yourself to use the set at least five times. Do the same with your stencils! You will be amazed at what you create.

Walking in my Shoes

I fell in love with the new Dyary line from Dylusions. Well, let’s face it…I like everything Dylusions comes out with! However, this month they released an amazing new large planner! Now, I need another planner like I need a hole in my head. However, her planners (that she calls Dyary) are awesome because they have her beautiful background pages in them. I hate my handwriting and need lines to write, so I thought this would make a great Quotes journal!

Here are the links to the supplies I used to create this into page into my journal:
I am starting a new series on my channel, Behind the Art, in which I am creating. The camera is above my work station and I have sped up the video and turned off the sound. My first episode was creating this! Please check it out and leave me some feedback. Do you like it? How do you feel about no sound? Was it to fast or just right?

Charming Pillow Box

I am over on the Brutus Monroe Blog today with this little pillow box that I made with the November Stamp of the Month Set and Shrinky Dink. My friend, Nadine, said that Shrinky Dink can be shrunk with just a heat gun. It totally worked! Just make sure that you poke any holes before you shrink it down and remember that it will shrink your holes too! You can find more info on how to make this box on Brutus Monroe so head on over there 🙂

Jazz Up a Christmas Card!

I know, I know….it is only September. Why am I posting about Christmas? Well, it takes me several months to actually make my cards. I like to have them out right after Thanksgiving. Otherwise I forget, so I start early. I received some really great Christmas themed products from Brutus Monroe . When I saw the stencil I new I wanted to make a card out of it. It is important that my cards are flat so they can go through the mail with one stamp. This is what I created:

One of my current obsessions is embossing the edges. It gives a beautiful frame to the card without creating a ton of bulk. Here is a video I made as I created this card. I hope you enjoy!
