Halloween Hop with Cut Cardstock

I am honored to be part of my first blog hop with Cut Cardstock. Have you heard of this awesome company? They carry an extensive selection of not only cardstock, but also other paper crafting basics at a great price. I discovered them through my friend Hannah and have been hooked ever since!

Cardstock Based Mini Album

I got a little carried away with my hop project. This little mini album has been rolling around in my head for months.

I was taking pictures of each step on how to create this interactive album, but I decided a video tutorial would be better.

The inside of the album after I got it decorated!

Each pocket holds an insert and more can be added as needed!

The corner pieces have three pop dots holding them down so pictures can easily be slid behind them.

Tags were created with leftover paper.

A couple close ups of the binding I created with cardstock:

To see the album in action, a complete walk thru and other supplies I used to create it check out this video:

I hope you enjoyed my Halloween project and found the tutorial on how to create the mini album useful! I am going to give this album away on my Instagram account once I hit 5K followers.

Now it’s time to hop! Your next spot is:

Happy UnBirthday!

Actually it really is my daughter’s Birthday in these layouts, so “UnBirthday” is a lie. However, we did celebrate some of it not on her Birthday, so maybe it is correct.

For her 17th Birthday she wanted to spend it with her friends.

But, first she had to open her gifts! Don’t you just love our bird in the picture? She had to be part of the festivities too!

After we opened gifts, we headed out with her friends for a day of shopping. We started at the mall and ended at Kendra Scott. When I was 16 my Mom started a tradition in which I got my first diamond ring. It was small and you could barely make out the diamond, but every year we would trade it in for a larger one. Unknowingly, I started a similar tradition with my daughter. Kendra Scott offers a 50% discount off of one piece of jewelry on your birthday. She picked out earrings!

Do you have any traditions? Please share in the comments! I would love to know :-).

The Days are Long, but the Years are Short

I heard the quote “the days are long, but the years are short.” when my kids were under five. I have three children — all within four years of each other. When they were all little the days seemed to all run together. Don’t get me wrong, I wanted to be a Mom more than anything. I had to have surgery to become one and I cherish every single minute of their lives.

It’s just when they were all in diapers my life was pretty much the same. It felt like I was a wet nurse and maid (didn’t I just clean that toilet? Wash that shirt?). I often dreamed of doing things that stimulated my mind by myself. The days truly were long and years short. Before I knew it my oldest was 18 and graduating from high school. I still think it was yesterday that I was bringing him home from the hospital. I remember changing his diapers, staying up all night, and napping when he napped. Now, he is an adult? Where did the time go?

Graduation Layouts

These pictures were bittersweet to scrap. I am so proud of the man he is turning into and truly enjoying being a parent to an adult. I decided on a Wonderland theme because that is what it feels like —Wonderland.

My son is 6’6 and towers over everyone in these pictures! In the above layout he is with his siblings, me, me and his dad, and his uncle.

If you have little ones at home, try to set aside time each day just to be with them. The laundry can wait and that toilet will always need to be cleaned. You will never be able to get your time back, so savor it :-).
