When The Church Prays

It’s ironic how my gift of creativity has such a hard time being used to worship God. As a papercrafter I should be able to create gorgeous pages in my Bible. I struggle with it though. The struggle is worse than any other I have in art. Regardless, I still desire to do it. Even though my pages may not be beautiful or even good, God does use them to speak and teach me through the process and that is what matters.

Gather Together

Joy Clair has the best most extensive stamps for Bibles. You can also use them on cards. The Gather Together set was perfect for my recent prayer.

The key to using wet mediums in Bible is clear Gesso! Apply a layer and let it dry. Once it is dry it not only allows no bleed through it primes the surface to accept the medium. For this page I used a combination of Distress Ink and watercolor along with ink to stamp with.

Revelation

As I am writing this post I am having a conversation with God. Complaining about how I resent the church because of the pain and hurt several leaders and members have inflicted on me dating all the way back to my childhood. Gently, he reminds me that I have spent the majority of my life in church, therefore it is natural that the majority of my hurt and pain have happened there and in my family. It is where I have not only physically been the majority of my life, but it is where I have been emotionally invested. The church is made up of people just like me. People hurt sometimes. I need to extend the forgiveness and understanding that I so easily can give the rest of the world to the church.

Until next time ~ Happy Crafting!

  1. Beautifully put! God is using you to be an example of his love and Grace. I too can relate, but we still have a way through our testimony that God is real and loves us just the way we are! Love this!

  2. You answered a couple different questions for me. I was wondering about bleed and prayer. I have been praying so much since my accident. Way more than I normally did. Thank you.. hugs
