Felting with Rita Barakat and Clover!

This month Kunin Felt Clover and Rita Barakat have joined forces! We have combined felting with mixed media. I learned how to needle felt in 2007 using a Clover felting needle. However, the awesome brush was not out at the time, so I felted on a thick foam sheet. The brush is a lot better because it was designed to use with the felting needles in that you never poke yourself or damage your needle because you went to far. I know that probably makes no sense, so to help clarify here is a quick video of how to felt using the felting needle and brush:

When I saw this at Creativation I immediately thought a canvas of a girl with hair of felt flowers would be magnificent! For this collaboration I created this:

To create this masterpiece I used Rita Barakat’s Draw Stencil to create the face. I have a huge love affair with big hair. I love creating it. The bigger and more colorful the better. I used lots of texture with Jane Davenpot paint over pens, Stickles and Nuvo drops.

My intention was to create a bunch of felt flowers. In fact the first thing I felted was the flower up in the corner, but once I placed it on the canvas I thought it was overpowering, so I created felted circles using a mix of wool felt and felt sheets by Kunin.

Make sure you join Rita Barakat’s Rise and Shine group on Facebook because on Thursday April 11, 2019 I will be showing you how to create felt shapes from wool! If you miss it, don’t worry! It will be there for you to check out later. Also, please make sure you hop along with us starting at Rita Barakat’s website.

Until next time ~ Happy Crafting!
